JOLO, Sulu – At least six Muslim lawmakers have appealed to the Aquino government to give due recognition and position in government service to qualified Muslim residents of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) as granted and stipulated in some of the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9054 or the ARMM Organic Act.

DAVAO CITY (PNA) – The Muslim community in this city is now preparing for the celebration of Eid'l Fitr or the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan on Friday.
Nor Asiah M. Adilao, a teacher and a community worker of mini-forest Muslim community here, said several community programs and activities are lined up as they are about to end the holy month of fasting. Adilao said the gathering of Muslim women, seminars and lecture of the significance of Eid'l Fitr in their Muslim faith and several others are among their activities during the celebration.

MARAWI CITY – Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. aims to strengthen the tourism industry in the province of Lanao del Sur and the promotion of the colorful Maranao culture.
Adiong said Maranaos, one of the 13 or so Muslim tribes, have been able to keep abreast with the spirit of Islam while at the same time enjoy the richness of their culture.
“We are aware and proud of our heritage and that’s why we are able to preserve our values and traditions,” said Adiong.

Muslims, Christians join Iftar celebration |

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Muslim and Christian religious leaders, along with their followers in this city, held a joint celebration of Iftar — the ritualistic breaking of the Ramadan fast –sponsored by the Inter-Religious Solidarity Movement for Peace (IRSMP) last Saturday evening, participants reported Friday.
Iftar is a deep spiritual experience sharing with God and with one another, IRSMP Catholic convenor Fr. Angel Calvo, CMF, explained.

PhilHealth services pushed for all residents of ARMM |

COTABATO CITY – The government of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is pushing for the intensified implementation of PhilHealth coverage in all its component provinces and cities, especially among their less fortunate constituents.
ARMM Executive Secretary Naguib Sinarimbo said the regional Cabinet in its regular meeting here on August 10 passed two resolutions
