Cotabato City (October 8, 2018) – The regional government of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, through its Humanitarian Emergency Action Response Team (ARMM-HEART), is providing assistance to the families of the five Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents who were killed in an ambush on Friday, October 5.
The agents were slain in Barangay Malna, in Kapai, Lanao Del Sur while they were on their way to Marawi City after attending an anti-drug symposium at the Tagoloan Municipal Police Station. The PDEA agents who died on the spot were identified as Kenneth Tabulo, Kristine Mae Torlao, Lores Joy Amar, and Binzo Dipolla, while Diobel Pacinio died while undergoing treatment at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.
Two more victims, identified as PDEA agent Rachel Gentapanan and non-uniformed police personnel Normina Dicay, are still confined at the hospital after sustaining injuries in the ambush. The ARMM-HEART has settled the medical bills of the two and has provided cash assistance to the families of each of the five slain agents.
ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman has ordered cash assistance to the victims’ families on Sunday, October 7. Gov. Hataman said the ARMM government will also grant a cash reward for those who could provide information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
