Cotabato City — In a bid to strengthen the region’s personnel selection board, selected Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao employees is on a competency building and training workshop today, August 16.
Amihilda Sangcopan, Office of the Regional Governor Chief-of-Staff, said that the training which started yesterday is a step towards “professionalizing the region’s civil servants.”
“We want to let the constituents know that we are really bent on standardizing the selection and promotion of ARMM personnel,” said Sangcopan.
Resureccion Pueyo, Director IV of the region’s Civil Service Commission discussed the basic policies on merit selection and promotion plan and the roles and responsibilities of Personnel Selection Board.
“Appointment is essentially discretionary power,” emphasized Pueyo.
“However, the appointing authority should appoint persons possessing the minimum qualifications required by law,” he added.
Dir. Dominador Gonzales Jr. stressed the importance of conducting background investigation and pre-evaluation of applicants.
According to Gonzales, transcripts and other important documents submitted by the applicants must be thoroughly checked if authentic or not.
The two-day competency building was spearheaded by the ORG and PSPB-ARMM in cooperation with CSC-ARMM. (bpi-armm)
