DBM, ARMM officials lauded DPWH for prudent use of savings
COTABATO CITY – Following a commendation from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Officials from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) lauded its Public Works and Highways in the region for “a job well done” in the prudent use of its 2012 savings amounting to P110,503,000.00.
ARMM Executive Secretary Atty Laisa Alamia in her letter to the region’s Public Works and Highways Secretary Emil Sadain congratulates the public works department and call to continue working for the constituents of the region.
“Keep up the good work. Let us continue working for the fulfillment of the aspirations of the constituents of the ARMM”, Alamia said.
In her letter to ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman, Tina Rose Marie L. Canda, Director IV, BMB-D, DBM, cited commendation on the prudent use of FY 2012 savings of DPWH-ARMM in the amount of P110,503,000.00
Hataman on July 29, 2013 ask permission from DBM relative to the utilization of the said savings under the ARMM-DPWH Reform Agenda 2012.
Canda in her reply said they have noted that “the savings generated have been used to procure much needed heavy equipment for the maintenance of roads.”
“We commend your prudent approach in the utilization of funds for the purpose of improving ARMM’s services. We assure you of our continued support in your efforts to implement cost-efficient programs and projects that led to increased DPWH-ARMM productivity,” Director Canda said.
Sadain, still as Assistant Secretary of DPWH National said prudent fiscal management becomes the norm in DPWH-ARMM budget spending, resulting in the savings of P110.503 million for FY 2012.
“The generated savings were subsequently used in the procurement of heavy construction equipment and monitoring vehicles for the use of the regional office, our eight (8) district engineering offices and five (5) area equipment services in the provinces of ARMM,” Sadain said.
Since his appointment as DPWH ARMM Secretary on January 17, 2012, Sadain said Policy reforms and institutional development were introduced that further strengthen the capability and capacity of the officials and employees of the department.
Sadain believes that thru the instituted reforms and the delivery of concrete services that responds to the needs of the constituents under the leadership of Governor Hataman gives ARMM a new level of transformation worthy of respect and dignity from its people.
“We welcome challenges that come our way. The DPWH-ARMM has remained steadfast from the start of its reform struggles, be it on its official mandate as infrastructure arm of the region, fiscal management on government funds, institutional development of the agency and capacity building of its personnel,” Sandain added.
For 2014, DPWHARMM proposes a budget of P5.5 billion for infrastructure projects and programs including OPPAP’s Road to Peace program amounting to P2.052B.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, September 26, DPWH-ARMM was declared Over-all Champion for the 113th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) Celebration in the region.
DPWH-ARMM leads in almost of the events played during the Inter Agency Friendship Games in the whole month of the celebration.
The Regional Legislative Assembly (RLA) and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) both declared 1st runner ups garnering both 60.5 percent.
Sadain who is in Manila for the budget hearing during the awarding on Thursday congratulates his DPWH ARMM family for their second over-all Champion trophy from the Civil Service Commission -ARMM.
DPWH-ARMM also bagged the Over-all champion during the 112th PCSA last year.
Witnesses during the awarding said, “hinde lang sila pang infra, pang sports din!”
